A new patch titled Prelude to a New Era has been installed on the Korean Lineage 2 servers. While the update introduces very few visible gameplay changes, data discovered within the game client suggests that a much larger expansion may already be in development.
Story Teasers and New Era References
The official announcement featured the names of several story-related characters, which also appeared in the names of the first servers. Accompanying text described a world of souls and memories, hinting at a darker narrative focused on life, death, and spiritual connections.
These themes have led many players to speculate that the Death Knight class may finally be arriving on the main version of Lineage 2, similar to its appearance in other NCSoft projects. Additional clues were found in visual effects and text references discovered within the client files.
An event NPC known as the Prophet of the New Era has also been added to the game. The event is scheduled to run until May 12, leading many players to believe that the major update could arrive around that date.
New Hunting Zone Discovered
Among the most interesting discoveries is a set of files related to a previously unseen hunting area.
Based on file names and environmental assets, the location appears to be an underwater zone. The area contains a large altar structure and a unique entrance built in the same architectural style. These details suggest that the zone may feature a new raid encounter or world boss.
As always, assets found in the client are not a guarantee that the content will be released, but they often provide an early look at features under development.
New Armor Sets and Appearance Costumes
The client also contains references to a new armor set called Aedes. Textures for the armor are already present, indicating that development is well underway.
Several new appearance costumes were discovered as well, including the Lionel Hunter costume. Images within the files show how the armor appears across different races.
Another notable addition is a new Antharas-themed costume, allowing players to take on the appearance of the legendary dragon's influence.
Aegis Great: A Mysterious New Weapon Series
Perhaps the most exciting discovery is an entirely new weapon collection known as Aegis Great.
At the moment, no official details are attached to these weapons. However, several possibilities are being discussed within the community:
A new generation of R110 weapons.
Equipment of an even higher grade.
Rewards connected to future raid bosses.
Weapons tied to a new dragon encounter.
While the weapon models and statistics already exist within the client files, their final purpose remains unknown.
