Solina Rejects the Throne
After Emperor Hum left behind two heirs, the ambitious Frintezza sought absolute control over the empire. Solina, however, rejected her royal title and chose a very different path. Instead of ruling the kingdom, she devoted her life to understanding the will of the gods and traveled across the continent, spreading kindness and performing miracles.
As her reputation grew, so did the number of people who followed her teachings.
The Monastery of Silence
Solina's followers built a monastery deep within the mountains, creating a sanctuary where people could abandon worldly desires and dedicate themselves to prayer and spiritual life. Designed for an ascetic lifestyle, the monastery contained only the essentials, including living quarters, food storage, running water, prayer halls, and an extensive library.
Its true purpose, however, was far more significant.
Hidden behind an invisible bridge and a secret passage on the upper floors rested the Holy Grail, a sacred relic entrusted to Solina and kept away from the outside world.
Frintezza's Growing Fear
As Solina's influence spread across the continent, many citizens began comparing her virtue to Emperor Frintezza's rule. Some openly criticized the imperial government, believing Solina embodied true righteousness.
These comparisons enraged the emperor.
Suspecting Solina of treason, Frintezza attempted to punish her. Public support for Solina was so overwhelming that he was initially forced to back down. Afterward, Solina withdrew from public life, gathered her disciples, and remained within the monastery.
Eventually, the imperial guards received orders to arrest her and all of her followers.
The Betrayal
The monastery's greatest secret was revealed through betrayal.
One of Solina's disciples, Judas Van Etina, realized the immense power hidden within the Holy Grail. Hoping to possess that power himself, he betrayed his teacher and revealed the monastery's hidden entrance to the imperial army.
The emperor's soldiers destroyed the concealed passage and stormed the monastery.
Although Solina's followers, led by Onai and other loyal warriors, fought bravely, they were ultimately defeated.
To spare her disciples, Solina surrendered under the condition that they would be left unharmed.
The Trial and Execution
Solina's trial lasted an entire week.
She was accused of treason, blasphemy, and heresy before being sentenced to death. The execution took place the following day in front of Emperor Frintezza and a large public gathering.
After her death, her followers collected her remains and clothing, intending to honor her memory within the Monastery of Silence.
Protecting Solina's Legacy
Upon returning, Solina's followers discovered that Judas had stolen many of the monastery's sacred relics and disappeared. Only the Holy Grail remained—at least, that was what everyone believed.
To preserve Solina's memory, the monks constructed a magnificent tomb deep inside the monastery. Her disciples Onai, Eris, and Karun created a powerful magical defense known as the Seal of the Saint.
The system consisted of:
Four Guardian Stones.
Four immortal guardians blessed while the stones remained active.
Four sacred relics shaped as a sword, shield, book, and staff.
Only by placing each relic into its corresponding Guardian Stone could the magical seal be disabled and access to the tomb be granted.
A grand monument marked the resting place of Saint Solina, warning that anyone seeking to steal her power or reject her teachings would suffer divine punishment.
In reality, however, Solina's true body rested in a separate, humble chamber that reflected the simple life she had always chosen.
The Order of Saint Solina
After her death, the monks founded the Order of Saint Solina, dedicating themselves to protecting both her legacy and the Holy Grail.
Her disciple Eris became the monastery's eternal abbess. Blessed through years of faithful service, she gained extraordinary longevity and continued leading the order for generations.
To the monks, her continued presence became undeniable proof of the goddess Einhasad's blessing.
Divine Guardians
The monastery's protection extended beyond its walls.
By Einhasad's command, the archangel Barakiel, the Flame of Splendor, descended from the heavens to secretly watch over the holy lands and defend them against demons and intruders.
The Valley of Saints became home to the Platinum Tribe Keltirs, who guarded the road leading to the monastery. Four-winged apostles were also sent to protect the Holy Grail, while many monks received unnaturally long lives so they could continue their sacred duty.
The Greatest Secret
Unknown to the Order of Saint Solina, Judas Van Etina had committed one final deception.
Before Solina's arrest, he secretly replaced the Holy Grail with an identical replica and escaped with the genuine artifact.
For generations, Judas and his descendants studied the true Holy Grail in secret, hoping to master its immense power.
Centuries later, their descendants established a hidden organization that would become known throughout the world as Embryo, setting the stage for one of the most dangerous forces in the history of Lineage 2.
