Talking Island is one of the most iconic locations in Lineage 2 and serves as the starting area for Human characters. However, its history goes far beyond the beginner quests, revealing a rich backstory that shaped the world of Aden.

The Origins of Talking Island

Long before humans arrived, the island was considered sacred by the Elves because of the many elemental spirits that inhabited it. Its name originated when the first humans heard the spirits communicating with the Elves and believed that the island itself was speaking.

Over time, the Elves built an academy there to teach humans the art of magic. After the alliance between the two races collapsed, the academy was abandoned and eventually became the Elven Ruins.

The Elven Ruins

The ruins are now inhabited by spirits, golems, demons, giant spiders, and other creatures that appeared after the Elves left. Among them is the Abandoned Guardian Golem, originally created to protect the ancient Elven sanctuary.

The area is also home to several important NPCs and enemies connected to the game's storyline.

Important Characters

One of the most notable figures is Sir Colin Windawood, the administrator of Talking Island, who oversaw the island's restoration and security after the wars with Gracia.

Another legendary character is Cedric, one of Aden's greatest knights. His combat academy trained generations of warriors and became a symbol of Human military tradition.

The Origin of Humans

According to Lineage 2 lore, Humans were created by Gran Kain using fragments of the four elemental spirits. Although they initially appeared to be the weakest race, their short lifespan drove them to constantly improve, eventually allowing them to become the dominant race across the continent.

Later, the Church of Einhasad rewrote history, teaching that Humans were created by the goddess herself, strengthening both their faith and their unity.

Human Society and Culture

Human society is defined by a strict social hierarchy, powerful military organizations, guilds of warriors and mages, knightly orders, and diverse cultures spread across the kingdoms of Aden, Elmore, and Gracia.

Humans are also known for their adaptability, their ability to master many forms of magic, build alliances with other races, and even produce offspring with them—something unique in the world of Lineage 2.

Human Classes

Human professions each represent a different path:

  • Warriors, masters of direct combat.

  • Knights, defenders of the kingdom and the Church of Einhasad.

  • Rogues, specialists in scouting, espionage, and ranged combat.

  • Mages, scholars devoted to elemental, dark, and summoning magic.

Each class has its own history, philosophy, and role within the world of Lineage 2.

Conclusion

Talking Island is much more than the starting zone in Lineage 2. Its history tells the story of humanity's rise, the ancient alliance with the Elves, and the events that helped shape the future of Aden. Understanding this lore provides a deeper appreciation for one of the most iconic MMORPG worlds ever created.
