The Giants Challenge the Gods

At the height of their civilization, the Giants stood on the verge of surpassing the Gods themselves. Their scientific achievements had transformed the world, allowing them to create unimaginable weapons, manipulate life, and reshape nature through massive technological projects.

Their greatest transgression, however, was attempting to create life—a privilege reserved exclusively for the Goddess Einhasad. Viewing this as an act of rebellion, she declared war on the Giants.

While some versions of the official lore differ in details, they all lead to the same conclusion: the conflict between the Gods and the Giants became one of the greatest wars in the history of Lineage 2.

The War of the Golden Hills

Einhasad dispatched her army of angels, led by her daughters, to destroy the Giants.

Initially caught off guard, the Giants suffered heavy losses before deploying one of their greatest creations—the Kamael. Unlike other races, the Kamael were largely unaffected by the divine powers of the Gods, allowing them to shift the balance of the battlefield.

One of the central weapons in the conflict was the colossal Leopold Cannon, capable of devastating entire armies. Einhasad succeeded in destroying its magical control circle before Katenar could activate it, severely limiting its destructive potential.

Although Katenar temporarily restored control using his own magic, Leopold was no longer capable of reaching its full power. Even so, it inflicted enormous casualties upon the angelic forces before being stopped.

During the battle, Harkilgamed wielded the legendary sword Enuma Elish, while several of Einhasad's daughters sacrificed themselves protecting the world from catastrophic destruction.

Rodenpicula and the Arviter Laboratory

The angels attempted to destroy the Arviter Laboratory and eliminate the Kamael.

Rodenpicula's powerful protective magic reflected every attack back toward the invading forces, allowing the Giants and Kamael to repel the assault. According to Kekropus, the successful defense enabled the Giants to launch a counteroffensive that even resulted in the temporary capture of Einhasad's Sky Castle.

The victory proved short-lived.

The Hammer of Despair

Enraged by the Giants' defiance, Einhasad vowed to destroy not only them but the entire continent.

Gran Kain opposed complete annihilation, arguing that total destruction belonged to his domain rather than hers. Eventually, a compromise was reached.

Einhasad borrowed Gran Kain's legendary Star Hammer, also known as the Hammer of Despair—a weapon so powerful that even Gran Kain feared using it.

When the hammer struck Grandferion, the capital of the Giants, the consequences were catastrophic.

Meteorites rained from the heavens, entire cities vanished, and the greatest civilization the world had ever known collapsed in a single day.

Superion's Last Stand

The surviving Giants attempted to stop the Hammer using their flying fortress, Superion.

Although they managed to slightly alter the impact, they could not prevent the destruction. Emperor Helios and Queen Ramona survived aboard Superion before disappearing into deep slumber somewhere on the continent.

According to later lore, the Hammer's impact generated enormous tsunamis that devastated Gracia, leaving behind massive craters and flooding countless ancient settlements.

The Hunt for the Survivors

After Grandferion fell, Einhasad continued her campaign of extermination.

The surviving Giants fled east while angels relentlessly pursued them.

Argos, the thousand-eyed demigod and son of Gran Kain and a Giant woman, refused to reveal the Giants' hiding places. Instead of killing him, Einhasad subjected him to eternal punishment, tearing apart his body and imprisoning him within a rocky valley where he would forever witness the destruction of his people.

This event eventually gave rise to the Valley of Argos.

The Hidden Island of Souls

Realizing the Kamael would never survive continued pursuit, the scientist Nornil sought the aid of Gran Kain.

Together they concealed the Island of Souls and the Arviter Laboratory within another dimension, completely hidden from the Gods.

Before dying, Nornil transferred her consciousness into the massive artificial intelligence known as Mother Nornil, who would oversee the island and guide future generations of Kamael.

Separated from the outside world, the Kamael gradually built an entirely new civilization.

The Last Giants

Many surviving Giants sought refuge in secret locations.

Hermuncus, one of the strongest Giants ever to exist, hid stolen divine power in another dimension before ultimately falling to Einhasad.

Others escaped to what would later become the Lost Plateau, protected by Gran Kain, who raised the land itself to block Einhasad's pursuit. The magnificent Angel Falls became a permanent reminder of this miraculous intervention.

Meanwhile, another group survived inside what would later become the Cave of Giants.

The Decline of Giant Civilization

Without their advanced technology, the remaining Giants slowly deteriorated.

Their energy sources—Nebulite crystals—were destroyed during the war, leaving their cybernetic bodies unable to function properly. Over generations, they lost much of their intelligence and technological knowledge.

Many of their own artificial creations eventually turned against them.

The failed artificial intelligence Hekaton Prime seized control of most surviving Giants, while creatures such as Gorgolos rebelled against their creators.

Only a handful of Giants, including Glaki and Utenus, retained fragments of the ancient civilization's knowledge.

Lost Knowledge and Ancient Artifacts

Although the empire collapsed, countless relics survived.

Within the Cave of Giants, explorers can still discover:

  • Ancient scientific texts

  • Medical and magical research

  • Giant engineering blueprints

  • Golem designs

  • Cultural records

  • The Divine Statue of Giants

These discoveries would later influence the technological development of younger races.

Fearing the return of the Giants' forbidden knowledge, Einhasad shattered Mafr's Marble Tablet—containing the secrets of Absolute Geometry—into twelve fragments scattered across the world.

The Fate of the Cruma Tower

The legendary Cruma Tower also fell during the war.

Its guardian Core entered a deep sleep, while experimental creatures escaped throughout the structure. Massive chained turtles that once supported giant fortresses eventually perished, leaving behind only enormous shells that later became ruins explored by adventurers.

Later lore also reveals that parts of Superion remain hidden within or beneath the Cruma Tower.

The New Kamael Civilization

Hidden from the Gods, the Kamael continued to evolve.

Kekropus established a new social order, while Mother Nornil became the center of their spiritual beliefs.

To preserve stability, the Kamael adopted the Cult Trinity, worshipping the Goddesses of the Past, Present, and Future. The true origin of their race remained known only to Kekropus, several elders, and a handful of legendary heroes.

Over time, the outside world forgot the Kamael even existed.

The End of the Age of Gods

Following the destruction of the Giants, Einhasad became deeply disappointed in the races of the world and rarely intervened in mortal affairs again.

Gran Kain likewise withdrew from direct involvement.

With the Giants gone and the Gods stepping back from earthly events, one era came to an end.

The Age of Gods had finally reached its conclusion, setting the stage for the next chapter in the history of Aden.
