After Emperor Hum's death, the empire was left with two heirs. The ambitious nobles, eager to expand their power and continue military conquest, supported Prince Frintezza as the sole ruler of the Elmoreden Empire.

At the same time, the teachings of Saint Shilen's prophet Sali were gaining influence among the people. Viewing her growing popularity as a threat to imperial authority, Frintezza ordered the royal guards to arrest Sali and her followers.

The Trial of Sali

Sali's trial lasted an entire week. She was accused of treason, blasphemy, and spreading heresy before ultimately being sentenced to death.

Her execution became a turning point in the empire's history. Public support for the emperor collapsed, and Elmoreden entered a period of irreversible decline marked by unrest, rebellion, and political instability.

A Pact with the Demon Hallisha

As civil war threatened his reign, Frintezza was approached by one of the four Demon Kings—Hallisha. Claiming to be a messenger of the gods, Hallisha offered the emperor an irresistible bargain: unlimited power in exchange for his soul.

Desperate to save his throne, Frintezza accepted.

Despite receiving demonic power, he failed to restore control over the empire. With his enemies closing in, he retreated alongside his most loyal followers into the Imperial Tomb, hoping to preserve both his life and his immense treasures.

The Four Great Mausoleums

Deep within the Imperial Tomb lay four ancient mausoleums where generations of emperors and the kingdom's greatest nobles had been buried.

Frintezza ordered the mage Wigoth to seal his treasures inside magical chests protected by incredibly powerful enchantments. Fearing theft and betrayal, he sought supernatural guardians capable of defending them forever.

To accomplish this, he sacrificed his own royal Valkyrie guards to Hallisha. The demon transformed them into monstrous guardians, condemning them to eternally protect the emperor's hidden wealth within the four mausoleums. Evidence throughout the game's lore suggests this transformation was connected to the mysterious Four Goblets.

Scarlett van Halisha

Hallisha's influence over Frintezza continued to grow. Seeking even greater power, the demon demanded another sacrifice.

Frintezza surrendered the person closest to him—his childhood companion, Scarlett.

After claiming both her body and soul, Hallisha transformed her into the terrifying Scarlett van Halisha, one of the most infamous figures within the Imperial Tomb.

Only after this sacrifice did Frintezza realize the true cost of his bargain, but by then it was far too late. Soon afterward, he fell victim to a mysterious illness.

The Nameless Spirit

Not all of Frintezza's soul belonged to Hallisha.

The emperor's remaining pure essence separated from his corrupted body and became the Nameless Spirit. Filled with regret, it sought to undo the destruction caused by the emperor's ambition.

The spirit hid behind a secret wall deep within the tomb and protected its sanctuary with an immensely powerful magical barrier. The only way to pass through it was by speaking a secret password—the words of a lullaby once sung to Frintezza by his childhood nanny, Devorin.

The Corruption of the Imperial Tomb

After fully claiming the souls of Frintezza and Scarlett, Hallisha sought complete dominion over Elmoreden.

The demon raised the emperors and nobles buried within the tomb as undead servants while demonic creatures spread throughout the surrounding lands. The once-sacred resting place of the empire's rulers became a fortress of darkness.

The Nameless Spirit and the ghost of Wigoth desperately searched for a way to restore the tomb and banish Hallisha forever.

The Mystery of the Four Goblets

To weaken Hallisha's power, adventurers must recover the Four Goblets from the demon's shadowy servants.

Although the game never fully explains their purpose, the lore strongly suggests that the goblets are connected to freeing the souls of the corrupted Valkyries or weakening Frintezza's dark counterpart and Hallisha's hold over the Imperial Tomb.

Unable to defeat the Demon King's forces alone, the Nameless Spirit and Wigoth were forced to rely on brave adventurers.

A Monument to a Fallen Empire

Fear of demons and the undead eventually became so overwhelming that even grave robbers abandoned the Imperial Tomb.

Once built as the eternal resting place of Elmoreden's greatest emperors, the tomb now stands as a grim reminder of how ambition, betrayal, and forbidden power brought a mighty empire to ruin.

The story of Frintezza remains one of the most tragic chapters in the lore of Lineage 2, illustrating how the pursuit of absolute power ultimately led to the fall of both an emperor and an entire civilization.
