The history of Evil Lair begins long before adventurers first entered its ruins. Hidden beneath its monsters and cursed lands lies the story of a civil war among the orcs, a forgotten city, and an ancient spirit whose influence continues to spread across the continent.

The Birth of the Proud Orcs

After the orcs were defeated in the great war against the alliance of elves and humans, they were forced to accept a humiliating peace treaty and retreat to the Immortal Plateau.

Not every orc accepted this decision.

A number of warriors believed surrender was an unforgivable disgrace and refused to recognize the peace agreement. Calling themselves Superbia, or the Proud Orcs, they separated themselves from the noble orcs who chose peace.

Declaring war on their own people, the Proud Orcs were branded as traitors and exiled from the orc kingdom.

Among the exiles was the powerful Ragna Tribe, once considered the strongest of the seven noble orc tribes, alongside the smaller Batur, Morek, Turka, Tamlin, Timora, and Umbar tribes.

The Fall of the Ancient Orc City

Ignoring the orders of the other chieftains, the Proud Orcs chose to remain in their city and fight against the overwhelming elven army.

The battle ended in disaster.

The elves destroyed the city completely and attempted to eliminate every surviving orc. Only a handful escaped, aided by the dwarves of the Silver Scale Guild, who sheltered the survivors and accepted them into their service.

Although the game's lore never directly identifies the city's name or exact location, there is strong evidence that its ruins still exist within Lineage II.

Many clues point to Evil Lair, which is described as the ruins of an ancient orc city once inhabited by the exiled Ragna tribe.

The Crypts of Disgrace

Because the exiled tribes had been declared traitors, they were forbidden from being buried on the Immortal Plateau alongside their ancestors.

Instead, they built an enormous tomb where they could lay their dead to rest.

The noble orcs eventually named this place the Crypts of Disgrace.

Unable to rest in the sacred lands of their ancestors, many of the fallen warriors rose again as undead. Tomb raiders disturbing the graves only made the situation worse, awakening more restless spirits over the centuries.

Faranga and the Worship of Kasha

As centuries passed, the ruins of the ancient city became home to the remaining descendants of the Ragna tribe.

It was here that the orc shaman Faranga arrived after being exiled for communicating with Kasha, the ancient spirit of death and decay.

Rejecting the teachings of Pa'agrio, Faranga established a new shrine dedicated to Kasha within the ruins of the old temple.

With the support of the Ragna tribe, he began preparing an assault against the orc village.

Using Kasha's dark power, Faranga summoned powerful monsters and strengthened the restless spirits that haunted the Crypts of Disgrace.

From that moment on, the ruins became known as Evil Lair.

The MasterWork Expansion

On the MasterWork project, the story of Evil Lair is expanded with additional lore and gameplay mechanics.

After receiving Kasha's blessing, Faranga gained control over monsters through the Amulet of Kasha, an ancient artifact whose true power is both dangerous and unpredictable.

Anyone who underestimates the cursed relic risks awakening devastating forces.

Its aura drives the Vanul Demons into a frenzy, greatly increasing their strength and aggression. Once defeated, these demons leave behind vengeful spirits eager to attack nearby adventurers.

On rare occasions, the spirits are replaced by Kasha's Faithful Servant, an incredibly powerful creature whose appearance signals a challenging battle.

Those who defeat this formidable enemy are rewarded with a powerful restoration of vitality, allowing them to continue their journey.

The Cursed Bonfires

To further protect their sanctuary, the Ragna tribe and Faranga cursed the bonfires scattered throughout Evil Lair.

Lighting one of these fires awakens dark energies that affect every creature nearby.

Monsters become more numerous and significantly stronger, while warriors also receive a temporary surge of power, creating even more intense and dangerous battles.

A Land Consumed by Darkness

With every passing year, Evil Lair grows increasingly dangerous as Kasha's influence spreads throughout the region.

The cursed city, haunted crypts, and ancient relics serve as constant reminders of the Proud Orcs' tragic rebellion. What began as a struggle for honor has transformed into one of the darkest locations in Lineage II, where the spirit of Kasha continues to prepare the land for another great war.
