Around a mountain campfire, a hooded bard unveils a history older than memory: two primal forces—Einhasad (light) and Gran Kain (dark)—shatter a cosmic globe and seed the world with sky, earth, and water. From its spirit rise giants, first rulers and builders of wonders. The gods’ children shape the races—Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, arteias—while Gran Kain, in jealousy, crafts fragile yet countless Humans.
Divine scandal ignites a war of gods and dragons; Shilen’s exile births demons, and Eva’s retreat floods the world. Doubt grows among the giants, whose “science” provokes Einhasad to drop the Hammer of Despair—an apocalypse that ends their age.
In the ruin, Elves try to govern, only to be overrun by Orc might. Desperate, they arm Humans with magic—creating an ally that becomes their conqueror. Humans ascend: Elmoreden rises under Shunaiman, rewrites myth to claim Einhasad, and hunts heretics. Power concentrates in the Ivory Tower, until the prodigy Beleth turns its knowledge toward dominion and is sealed—only to escape. Elven schism births the Dark Elves through forbidden pacts, while Emperor Baium reaches for immortality and is cursed to his tower, hastening Elmoreden’s collapse.
Centuries of war forge two great banners: Aden in the south under Raoul’s shrewd unification, and Gracia across the sea under Paris’s steel. After invasions, betrayals, and a boy-king’s unlikely brilliance, an uneasy peace settles.
Then comes the “prelude”—omens, dying World Trees, and whispered revelations—drawing every race to the brink. In Lineage II, history is a torch passed from gods to giants to Humans—and its flame is never still.
