The creation of the Lineage 2 universe did not end with the formation of the world itself. After Genesis gave birth to elemental spirits, angels, and the material realm, the gods began shaping intelligent life. These races would eventually inherit the world, build civilizations, wage wars, and shape the history of Aden.

This chapter of Lineage 2 lore explores the creation of the Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Artei, Humans, Demons, and Succubi, as well as the divine conflicts and philosophies that influenced their destinies.

The Age of the Gods Begins

After Genesis was completed, the material world became filled with plants and animals while elemental spirits populated the spiritual realms. The Giants, the wisest and strongest beings of the era, were chosen by Einhasad and Gran Kain to govern the world.

The gods taught the Giants the sacred Songs of Creation—harmonies of Light and Darkness that had shaped the universe itself. These divine songs became the foundation of magic and knowledge in the ancient world.

As time passed, Einhasad and Gran Kain had five children:

  • Paagrio, God of Fire

  • Maphr, Goddess of Earth

  • Sayha, God of Wind

  • Shilen, Goddess of Water

  • Eva, the youngest daughter

While Shilen became the ruler of Water, Eva received no elemental domain. Instead, she devoted herself to music and poetry, creating songs that would later inspire the famous melodies used by Sword Singers and Virtuosos throughout Lineage 2.

The Creation of the Elves and the Tree of Life

Unsatisfied with simply observing creation, Einhasad sought to create life directly.

Using divine energy, she formed living vessels and asked her children to provide spirits to animate them. Shilen contributed the spirit of water, but the spirit could not maintain a stable form. To solve this problem, Einhasad connected the spirit to the oldest living being in existence—the Tree of Life.

From this union, the first Elves were born.

The Tree of Life became the ancestor and spiritual center of the Elven race. World Trees spread across the world through interconnected roots, and Elves gained longevity by consuming special fruits harvested from these sacred trees.

Because of their connection to the Tree of Life, Elves naturally regenerate strength and magical energy while near World Trees, a concept reflected directly in gameplay.

The Guardians of the Tree of Life

The Tree of Life was protected by powerful beings created from animals living around it.

Einhasad combined elemental spirits with nearby creatures to create:

  • Ents (Timitrans), born from tree sprouts and earth spirits

  • Fairies, born from butterflies and wind spirits

  • Pans (Fauns), born from goats and fire spirits

  • Arachne, born from spiders and water spirits

Among the Arachne, three sisters became legendary:

  • Nerupa, guardian of the present

  • Harne (Litra), guardian of the past

  • Orfen, guardian of the future

These beings became protectors of the Elven Forest and servants of the Tree of Life.

Elven Society and Culture

Elven civilization revolved around harmony with nature.

Unlike other races, the Elves originally used barter instead of currency. Their magic came from communication with elemental spirits rather than direct study.

The Elves called their homeland the Forest Kingdom and viewed nature as sacred. Becoming a wizard required proving one's connection to the four elemental forces that shaped the world.

According to later lore, the first Elven Queen was Iris, appointed by Shilen herself and entrusted with protecting both the Tree of Life and the Elven race.

The Elves were guided by twelve Elders chosen directly by the Tree, capable of communicating with it and interpreting its will.

The Creation of the Orcs

Paagrio, God of Fire, created the second race.

The first Orc was a gigantic being whose body contained molten lava instead of blood. Flames burned through his hair, while smoke escaped from his mouth and nostrils.

This legendary progenitor was known as Kenteki Zu Urutu.

The gods became jealous of his immense power. Using the forces of water, wind, earth, and nature itself, they weakened him:

  • Water cooled his internal fire

  • Earth transformed lava into blood

  • Wind dispersed his smoke

  • Time diminished his strength

Before dying, the First Orc created seven noble tribal founders:

  • Atuba

  • Neruga

  • Urutu

  • Duda-Mara

  • Gandi

  • Ragna

  • Hestui

These tribes became the ancestors of all Orc clans.

The Flame of Eternity

Before his death, the First Orc lit the Sacred Flame of Eternity using Paagrio's divine fire.

The Orcs swore to protect this flame forever.

According to Orc tradition, the extinction of the Sacred Flame would signal the destruction of the Orc race itself. For generations, warriors and shamans guarded it within the Plateau of Immortality.

The Cave of Trials later became a sacred place where Orc leaders passed on their wisdom and spirits to future generations.

The Creation of the Dwarves

Maphr, Goddess of Earth, created the Dwarves by infusing the spirit of earth into a divine form.

Unlike other races, Dwarves received little magical talent. Instead, Maphr granted them:

  • Exceptional intelligence

  • Engineering expertise

  • Craftsmanship

  • Mathematical knowledge

  • Architectural mastery

Maphr taught them metalworking, sculpture, construction, commerce, and science.

Because of their practical nature, Dwarves eventually developed the world's first trading systems. Their tradition of exchanging crafted goods helped create the foundation of commerce across the continent.

The Creation of the Artei

Sayha, God of Wind, created the Artei.

These winged beings embodied freedom, beauty, curiosity, and independence. Unlike angels, their wings were unique and allowed them to fly freely across the world.

The Giants attempted to enslave the Artei but quickly discovered a problem—captured Artei rapidly lost their will to live and died in captivity.

Unable to control them, the Giants were forced to allow the Artei to remain free.

For centuries, the Artei traveled the world, acting as messengers and explorers between distant regions.

Gran Kain's Failed Creation: The Demons

Gran Kain, the God of Destruction, desired to prove he could create life just as successfully as Einhasad.

Without using a proper spirit, he created living forms that became the first Demons.

The experiment failed.

Realizing his mistake, Gran Kain cast his creations into Purgatory, a barren and hostile realm.

Rather than perish, the Demons adapted and evolved.

Over time they formed powerful societies ruled by four Demon Kings:

  • Malruk

  • Triol

  • Bremnon

  • Halisha

These rulers constantly sought ways to invade the material world through contracts, dark magic, and corruption.

The Creation of Humanity

Refusing to abandon his ambition, Gran Kain attempted another experiment.

This time he sought help from his children.

Each child reluctantly contributed a flawed elemental spirit:

  • Shilen gave stagnant water

  • Paagrio gave smoldering fire

  • Maphr gave barren earth

  • Sayha gave uncontrollable wind

Gran Kain combined these remnants and used them to animate a new race.

The result was Humanity.

Instead of producing perfect beings, the experiment created creatures that were weak, unstable, emotional, and unpredictable.

The gods laughed at Gran Kain's creation.

Ashamed, he abandoned humanity.

The Spirit of Chaos

The mixture of damaged elemental spirits created something unique within humans—a force known as Chaos.

Unlike other races, humans carried fragments of all elemental powers.

This gave them unusual adaptability and allowed them to successfully mix with other races. Many half-blood descendants inherited extraordinary abilities from both parents.

Although initially considered the weakest race, humanity's instability eventually became its greatest strength.

Their short lives encouraged ambition.

Their weakness created a desire for power.

Their impulsiveness became courage.

What began as a failed experiment would eventually become one of the most influential races in the history of Lineage 2.

The Succubi and the Forbidden Songs

While hiding in his Palace of Darkness, Gran Kain created another race—the Succubi.

Beautiful, intelligent, and angel-like, they served as attendants within his palace.

However, the Succubi secretly listened to Gran Kain's Songs of Creation and attempted to steal their power.

When Gran Kain discovered their betrayal, he banished them.

The forbidden knowledge disappeared, but traces remained.

According to legend, the blood of dead Succubi transformed into magical runes capable of preserving fragments of the divine songs. These runes later became part of ancient magical traditions and religious rituals throughout the world.

The First Age of Civilization

As centuries passed, the races spread across the continent and lived under Giant rule.

Each race filled a different role:

  • Elves served as scholars and masters of magic.

  • Orcs became warriors and soldiers.

  • Dwarves became craftsmen, merchants, and engineers.

  • Artei remained free travelers and messengers.

  • Humans became laborers and servants.

Humans suffered the most under Giant society. Abandoned by their creator and lacking a unified religion, they struggled to find purpose.

Yet their greatest weakness eventually became their greatest advantage.

Driven by ambition, adaptability, and determination, humanity would one day rise to challenge every race that once considered them inferior.

Conclusion

The creation of the races marked the beginning of civilization in the Lineage 2 universe. From the sacred Tree of Life and the birth of the Elves to the tragic origins of humanity and the rise of the Demon Kings, these events laid the foundation for every major conflict that followed.

As the Age of the Gods continued, tensions between races, gods, and giants would eventually reshape the world forever.
